Beaphar Dimethicare Flea Pipettes provide pesticide-free control of fleas, mites and lice on rabbits, guinea pigs and ferrets. The pack contains three easy-to-use pipettes for straightforward application at home.

The formula contains dimethicone, which coats parasites and physically restricts their movement. This prevents them from feeding, breeding and continuing their lifecycle. Immobilised parasites will then fall from the coat or can be carefully removed with a suitable comb.

Unlike conventional insecticides, the product works through physical action rather than pesticides. Apply one pipette directly to the skin, beginning at the back of the neck and continuing in a line along your pet’s spine.

Directions for use

Always read the complete product label and packaging before use. Do not remove a pipette from its foil blister until you are ready to apply it.

1. Hold the pipette upright and tap the neck so the contents return to the body of the pipette.
2. Carefully cut off the top using scissors, taking care not to squeeze the pipette.
3. Part the fur at the back of your pet’s neck and place the tip directly against the skin.
4. Empty the pipette completely onto the skin, continuing in a line along the spine.

Apply the contents of one pipette every four weeks.

For a visible parasite infestation, repeat the application every 8–10 days. If your pet becomes excessively wet, an earlier application may be necessary. Do not reapply within seven days.

Do not use more than one pipette per application or massage the liquid into the skin. Use immediately after opening.

When treating an active infestation, your pet’s bedding and resting areas should also be treated with a suitable product.

Do not use on:

• Rabbits, guinea pigs or ferrets under 12 weeks old
• Sick or recovering animals
• Pregnant or nursing animals
• Damaged or irritated skin
• Other species of small animal

Avoid contact with the eyes. Examine the application area periodically after use. Occasionally, a sensitive animal may experience localised irritation. If this occurs, wash the area with a mild, non-insecticidal shampoo.

Consult a veterinary surgery if irritation persists or your pet becomes unwell. Take the packaging and, where possible, the pipette with you.

Storage

Store in a cool, dry place. Keep the empty packaging for future reference and safety guidance.

Q&A

Do Dimethicare products make the coat sticky?
No, the coat does not get sticky. Dimethicone is so fine that it has a soothing effect on the fur of animals. However, it easily penetrates into the joints of pests, where they provide a blocking effect.

Is Dimethicare resistant to washing or getting wet?
After washing or when an animal has been swimming, Dimethicone is rinsed out and the treatment will have to be repeated.

Does the floor become slippery when treated with an environmental spray?
As long as the Dimethicare Environmental Spray has not yet dried, it is possible that the floor in those places is temporarily more slippery than normal. After drying, the floor can be walked on normally.

What happens if the animal licks Dimethicare?
It is not harmful when the drops are licked. There are also various (veterinary) medicines available for internal use with the same active ingredient.

Which product should I use in an area with high flea and tick pressure?
When there is a very high flea pressure from the animal’s environment, it is advisable to use the spray. The spray is applied all over the body and thus works immediately, while the Line-On takes time to spread. However, for preventive treatments, the Line-On pipettes are ideal.

Can an animal that has been treated still get stung?
Because Dimethicone creates a nurturing layer on the coat, pests will usually be immobilised before reaching the skin.

Does the pest that is immobilised fall directly from the fur?
Vermin that have come into contact with Dimethicon often fall out immediately, but sometimes they still remain. However, they will no longer bite/sting because they are immobilised. They can be easily removed by brushing.
